The House of Delphine offers couture wear by award winning designer Delphine Grandjouan. French-born, Kerry-based Delphine is the recipient of the last two Irish Brides Magazine’s Bridal Designer of the Year. A regular feature of fashion and bridal publications and TV, her gowns combine “stunningly sexy and dramatic fit” with French couture elegance and style…mixing Golden Age Hollywood glamour with a poetic sense of modernity.

House of Delphine designer Delphine Grandjouan is French, but has been living in Ireland for over a decade. Originally a philosophy student (B.A.) her move to Ireland prompted her to explore more artistic pursuits like silk painting and other fabric processing techniques which she incorporated n a range of evening and occasion wear designing, winning her the reputation of being:

“An original thinker. A designer, not an adaptor…a couturier with a bohemian heart”
Constance Harris, Sunday Independent.

Her style has been described as “complex biased but, exquisite fabrics and as figure hugging and sensuous as you could get”.

Delphine was born in Nantes, France, an atmospheric harbour-city of the Loire River on the doorstep of Brittany, to an artistic family with a strong tradition of creative needle work and patch work and naturally imbibed from her surroundings a sense of poetic melancholy but also the joy of creation.

Claire Ann Lawler is a Dublin based milliner who grew up in Parteen, Co. Clare. At the age of thirteen years old her mother bought her a sewing machine and it was at this tender age that she developed her love for fashion design. Claire Ann has designed pieces for Supermodel Claudia Schiffer, rock star Dolores O’Riordan of the Cranberries and many more famous faces.

All of Claire Ann’s headpieces are made from Crin with various feather types encompassed and affixed to create the end design. Within this latest Spring / Summer collection there is a predominant use of Cock feathers, goose quills and ostrich hair feathers, all of which are dyed and treated by hand to create bright citrus colours, such as turquoise, purples, pinks, oranges and reds.

Amanda Byram, Carrie Crowley, Claire Byrne, Sally Lindsey of Coronation Street and all four members of Celtic Woman have worn O’Mahoney creations. Georgina Ahern returns to him time and time again.

O’Mahony is enthusiastic when describing his work. “I love the drama of dressing someone for an occasion from start to finish. I just don’t get as excited by ordinary everyday clothes, ” says the Limerick man. After school, he did night classes at Limerick College of Art and was apprenticed to designer Brid Nihil before deciding to go it alone some 15 years ago.

Lara Bohinc has an MA in jewellery and metalwork from the Royal College of Art (1996). She has, in the past, collaborated with Gucci, Costume National, Lanvin, Exte, Guy Laroche, Marcus Lupfer and Julien Mcdonald, and is a freelance consultant for Cartier International. She designed a Braille choker, with inverted lettering so that even blind people couldn’t read it, and a pair of sterling silver headphones that you wear over your ears - but can’t hear through

Lara Bohinc’s innovations are utterly original - think leather and metal shells with translucent Perspex handles; engraved metal cigarette cases in the spirit of Marlene Dietrich and spherical Perspex bags moulded with sterling silver clasps and chains.

If you’ve been following the media’s fascination with Michelle Obama’s fashion choices, then the name Erickson Beamon might ring a bell. But designing baubles for this first lady is only the first step in promoting their brand.

Erickson Beamon’s Karen and Erik Erickson’s ornately-tangled, part-Victorian, part-Baroque, part-pirate booty, “never boring” costume pieces are worn by such spotlight stars as Nicole Kidman, Kate Moss, Courtney Love, Milla Jovovich, and Cher. And, yes, the Ericksons have become known as “designers’ designers,” creating elaborate runway jewelry for the likes of John Galliano, Givenchy, Chanel, Donna Karan, Anna Sui, Emanuel Ungaro, Zac Posen, and Marc Jacobs.

“It’s all about maintaining a fresh approach,” Karen offers. And that approach comes in the form of a beaded, metal lace that took 18 years to perfect, vintage white Swarovski crystals that are no longer made, mineral slices that hang on charm necklaces, sea-swept strands of chalcedony and gold chain, and the use of precious stones such as rubies, sapphires and diamonds.
